Example Prompts
Ask in plain language; your AI client picks the tools, dimensions and filters. Name the property (or its ID) when you have more than one, and say which period you mean. When the default isn't right, say so: "last 7 days", "September 2026", "this week vs last week".
Getting started
- Which GA4 properties do I have access to?
- What currency and time zone is the Shop property set to? Which measurement ID does its web stream use?
- Which custom dimensions and metrics does this property have?
- Is Google Ads linked to this property?
Traffic and channels
- Sessions, engaged sessions and engagement rate by default channel group for the last 28 days.
- Compare this week's sessions with last week's, by channel.
- Top 10 source / medium pairs by sessions last month, and their key event rates.
- Which landing pages bring the most new users from Organic Search?
- Show daily sessions for the last 90 days and point out unusual spikes or drops. Check the property annotations for an explanation.
- How does traffic split by device and country?
Campaigns and UTMs
- Which campaigns (sessionCampaignName) drove the most revenue in September?
- List all UTM mediums in use. Which ones aren't standard GA4 mediums?
- Compare Paid Search and Paid Social: sessions, purchases, revenue and conversion rate, last 30 days.
E-commerce
- Purchases and revenue by default channel group, last 7 days.
- Top 20 products by item revenue this month, with quantity sold.
- Show the funnel view_item → add_to_cart → begin_checkout → purchase for the last 30 days, split by device. Where do we lose most users?
- What did users do after add_to_cart when they didn't start checkout?
- Average order value by country, only countries with more than 50 purchases.
- Revenue by day for the last two months compared with the same period before.
Content and engagement
- Most viewed pages last week, with average engagement time.
- Which blog posts (pages starting with /blog/) lead to the most sign_up events?
- Which events fire most often, and which ones are marked as key events?
Tracking health
- Do we have duplicate purchases in GA4? Which transaction IDs are repeated?
- Check traffic attribution for the last 28 days and explain the Unassigned and (not set) traffic.
- How many purchase events have no transaction_id?
- Compare purchases per day in GA4 with these order counts from the shop: … (paste your numbers)
- Which events have a (not set) value for page_location or session source?
Realtime checks
- Are purchase events coming in right now?
- I just published a GTM change. Show events from the last 5 minutes by event name.
- How many users are active right now, by country?
Tips
- Be specific about time. "Last month" and "the last 30 days" are different periods.
- Ask for a table or a chart if your client can render one, e.g. "…as a table sorted by revenue".
- Ask what it measured. The AI client can show the dimensions, metrics and filters it used, which helps when numbers differ from the GA4 interface.
- Big questions cost more quota. Long date ranges with many dimensions use more of the property's GA4 quota; see Troubleshooting.
