How to install Wishlists add-on in Google Tag Manager for WooCommerce?
This add-on was deprecated and its functionality was added to the main Google Tag Manager for WooCommerce plugin.
Wishlists add-on extends base GTM plugin with complete coverage of supported Wishlists plugins. This means capability of tracking new events:
- add_to_wishlist
- remove_from_wishlist
and adding new properties:
- item_list_id
- item_list_name
for following events when they are triggered from wishlist context:
- view_item_list
- select_item
- add_to_cart
This add-on plugin requires:
- Google Tag Manager for WooCommerce PRO
- one of supported Wishlists plugin
1. Install and configure Google Tag Manager for WooCommerce PRO
First, make sure that Google Tag Manager for WooCommerce PRO plugin is up and live in your WooCommerce shop. You can follow this guide to ensure everything is installed correctly.
2. Ensure you have supported plugins
Currently, our extension supports the following wishlists plugins:
- WooCommerce Wishlists (https://woo.com/products/woocommerce-wishlists/)
- WPC Smart Wishlist for WooCommerce (https://wordpress.org/plugins/woo-smart-wishlist/)
Please make sure that one of them is installed and activated in your store.
3. Install Wishlist add-on plugin
Now install Wishlist add-on plugin. Navigate to WP-Admin Plugins section and upload plugin ZIP file. Install and activate it. After activation, new events should appear in the list of available events in the settings of the main Google Tag Manager for WooCommerce PRO plugin:
4. Optionally update GTM presets
Make sure you have imported the latest versions of our presets into your Google Tag Manager container. You should see the "Add To Wishlist" and "Remove From Wishlist" triggers on the list of triggers in Google Tag Manager.
4. New events are ready
The extension introduces two new events: "add_to_wishlist" (a standard event in Google Analytics 4 eCommerce event) and "remove_from_wishlist":
In addition to the new events, it supports standards events such as "view_item_list," "select_item," and "add_to_cart" triggered from the context of the wishlists. Those events are correctly tracked with extra parameters "item_list_id" and "item_list_name" that allows to track users' behaviour in context of the wishlists:
